Audiobook Auditions
We have several projects coming up and we need voices for these projects. All genders and ethnicities are encouraged because the roles are diverse and plentiful.
TIPS AND TRICKS
1. Before reading it into a microphone, make sure you read it over at least once in your head and twice out loud so you know A) the context of your words, and B) the flow of the sentences. Trust me. It matters. I can always tell when someone is reading it cold.
2. Have a good mic. A Yeti Blue is a good, affordable mic with a USB.
3. We use Audacity for recording. The settings are 41000 Hz, 320 kbps in 16 bit mono. Export the file as an MP3.
4. Don't compress the file or do any noise reduction but make sure your recording space is as quiet as possible.
5. No more than 3 takes per line.
6. If you don't understand a word, look it up on Dictionary.com and find out how to pronounce it and what it means. It's your responsibility to do the best recording you can.
REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDITIONS
Auditioning for a specific character:
Auditioning for narrator:
On occasion, you'll win a role and then something will come up that threatens your deadline. It can be school, love, death, or just plain old life. When this happens, send an email to your contact for the book and tell us. We will recast the part and put your name back in circulation for auditions.
IF YOU DO NOT TELL US AND WE MISS A DEADLINE
You will not be put back in circulation and we will not use you for any future projects.
Once you are awarded a role, you will get an email from the Project Director with the chapters and lines and a DropBox folder for your use. Save your files to this folder and they will be collected, edited, and reviewed. If anything needs to be redone due to mispronunciation or changes in the manuscript, please do the lines requested as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, email them to Auditions@fjpublishing.com.
Thank you for being a part of this.
